You can now mute notifications for message channels, giving you more control over when you’re notified.
Muting a channel silences all push notifications, badges, and sounds while still delivering messages and tracking unread counts.
This feature works for both 1:1 conversations or group chats, allowing you to temporarily silence channels without missing important messages.
How to Mute a Channel:
Muting a conversation:
Open the Messages tab and navigate to the chat you want to mute
Click the three dots (•••) in the chat to open the settings menu
Select Mute from the dropdown options
Choose your preferred mute duration from the prompt
The channel will now display a muted symbol to indicate notifications are silenced
Unmuting a channel:
You can unmute any channel at any time by following the same steps and selecting Unmute from the settings menu.
What Happens When You Mute:
All push notifications, badges, and sound alerts are silenced for that channel
Messages continue to be delivered normally
Unread message counts are still tracked
A muted symbol appears on the channel to remind you it’s muted
Best Practices for Muting Channels:
Mute high-volume group chats during focused work time or rest periods
Use temporary mutes for channels that are active but not urgent
Remember to check muted channels periodically for important updates
Unmute channels when you’re ready to receive notifications again
