Passes now supports membership upgrades, giving fans a seamless way to move from a lower membership tier to a higher one without losing the value of what they already paid. Creators can enable this feature in their settings, and fans can upgrade directly from a creator's profile or their own Memberships page.

For Creators: How to Enable Membership Upgrades on Passes

Membership upgrades are turned off by default. Creators can enable them at any time through their Settings page.

Go to Settings in your Passes account
Select Memberships
Toggle on Allow Fans to Upgrade Memberships

Once enabled, fans will immediately see the option to upgrade their membership on your profile and through any discount code messages you have sent.

For Fans: How to Upgrade Your Passes Membership

Fans can upgrade their membership from two places: a creator's profile page or their own Memberships page

How to Upgrade From a Creator's Profile

Visit the creator's profile page or open a discount code message sent by the creator
Find the membership tier you want to move up to
Tap Upgrade to open the upgrade modal
Select the membership you want to upgrade from
Tap Upgrade Membership to proceed to the payment modal
Review your payment summary and complete your purchase
Look for the green confirmation notification at the bottom of your screen confirming the upgrade is complete

Note: Fans always have the option to purchase a higher membership as a new subscription rather than upgrading from an existing one.

How to Upgrade From Your Memberships Page

Go to your Memberships page
Find the membership you want to upgrade from and tap the three dots button on that membership card
Tap Upgrade Membership
Select the new membership tier you want to upgrade to
Review your payment summary and complete your purchase
A green confirmation message will appear at the bottom of the page once your upgrade is processed.

How Membership Upgrade Pricing Works on Passes

When a fan upgrades their membership, their payment plan stays consistent with what they were paying before. The payment summary shows:

The amount rolled over from their previous membership and applied toward the new one
An annual discount of 20% applied automatically
The total amount the fan needs to pay to complete the upgrade

This means fans are never paying full price from scratch when they upgrade. The value from their existing membership carries over.

Important Things to Know About Passes Membership Upgrades

Memberships can only be upgraded to a higher tier. Downgrading is not supported through this feature.
Fans will always see up to two membership options to upgrade to. If more than two options are available, they appear in a carousel.
Membership upgrade options are always displayed from cheapest to most expensive.
Fans can still purchase a higher membership as a brand new subscription if they prefer not to upgrade.
